CVE-2017-7760 | 2 Microsoft, Mozilla | 3 Windows, Firefox, Firefox Esr | 2018-08-14 | 4.6 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
The Mozilla Windows updater modifies some files to be updated by reading the original file and applying changes to it. The location of the original file can be altered by a malicious user by passing a special path to the callback parameter through the Mozilla Maintenance Service, allowing the manipulation of files in the installation directory and privilege escalation by manipulating the Mozilla Maintenance Service, which has privileged access. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox ESR < 52.2 and Firefox < 54.
CVE-2017-7763 | 3 Apple, Debian, Mozilla | 5 Mac Os X, Debian Linux, Firefox and 2 more | 2018-08-14 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 5.3 MEDIUM |
Default fonts on OS X display some Tibetan characters as whitespace. When used in the addressbar as part of an IDN this can be used for domain name spoofing attacks. Note: This attack only affects OS X operating systems. Other operating systems are unaffected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 54, Firefox ESR < 52.2, and Thunderbird < 52.2.
CVE-2009-3274 | 2 Linux, Mozilla | 2 Linux Kernel, Firefox | 2018-08-13 | 4.4 MEDIUM | N/A |
Mozilla Firefox 3.6a1, 3.5.3, 3.5.2, and earlier 3.5.x versions, and 3.0.14 and earlier 2.x and 3.x versions, on Linux uses a predictable /tmp pathname for files selected from the Downloads window, which allows local users to replace an arbitrary downloaded file by placing a file in a /tmp location before the download occurs, related to the Download Manager component. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
CVE-2017-7764 | 2 Debian, Mozilla | 4 Debian Linux, Firefox, Firefox Esr and 1 more | 2018-08-13 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 5.3 MEDIUM |
Characters from the "Canadian Syllabics" unicode block can be mixed with characters from other unicode blocks in the addressbar instead of being rendered as their raw "punycode" form, allowing for domain name spoofing attacks through character confusion. The current Unicode standard allows characters from "Aspirational Use Scripts" such as Canadian Syllabics to be mixed with Latin characters in the "moderately restrictive" IDN profile. We have changed Firefox behavior to match the upcoming Unicode version 10.0 which removes this category and treats them as "Limited Use Scripts.". This vulnerability affects Firefox < 54, Firefox ESR < 52.2, and Thunderbird < 52.2.
CVE-2017-7778 | 3 Debian, Mozilla, Sil | 5 Debian Linux, Firefox, Firefox Esr and 2 more | 2018-08-13 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
A number of security vulnerabilities in the Graphite 2 library including out-of-bounds reads, buffer overflow reads and writes, and the use of uninitialized memory. These issues were addressed in Graphite 2 version 1.3.10. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 54, Firefox ESR < 52.2, and Thunderbird < 52.2.
CVE-2017-7770 | 2 Google, Mozilla | 2 Android, Firefox | 2018-08-13 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
A mechanism where when a new tab is loaded through JavaScript events, if fullscreen mode is then entered, the addressbar will not be rendered. This would allow a malicious site to displayed a spoofed addressbar, showing the location of an arbitrary website instead of the one loaded. Note: this issue only affects Firefox for Android. Desktop Firefox is unaffected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 54.
CVE-2017-7768 | 2 Microsoft, Mozilla | 3 Windows, Firefox, Firefox Esr | 2018-08-13 | 2.1 LOW | 5.5 MEDIUM |
The Mozilla Maintenance Service can be invoked by an unprivileged user to read 32 bytes of any arbitrary file on the local system by convincing the service that it is reading a status file provided by the Mozilla Windows Updater. The Mozilla Maintenance Service executes with privileged access, bypassing system protections against unprivileged users. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox ESR < 52.2 and Firefox < 54.
CVE-2018-5137 | 2 Canonical, Mozilla | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Firefox | 2018-08-10 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
A legacy extension's non-contentaccessible, defined resources can be loaded by an arbitrary web page through script. This script does this by using a maliciously crafted path string to reference the resources. Note: this vulnerability does not affect WebExtensions. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 59.
CVE-2017-5425 | 2 Apple, Mozilla | 3 Mac Os X, Firefox, Thunderbird | 2018-08-09 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
The Gecko Media Plugin sandbox allows access to local files that match specific regular expressions. On OS OX, this matching allows access to some data in subdirectories of "/private/var" that could expose personal or temporary data. This has been updated to not allow access to "/private/var" and its subdirectories. Note: this issue only affects OS X. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 52 and Thunderbird < 52.
CVE-2017-5453 | 1 Mozilla | 1 Firefox | 2018-08-09 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 4.3 MEDIUM |
A mechanism to inject static HTML into the RSS reader preview page due to a failure to escape characters sent as URL parameters for a feed's "TITLE" element. This vulnerability allows for spoofing but no scripted content can be run. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 53.
CVE-2017-5452 | 1 Mozilla | 1 Firefox | 2018-08-09 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 4.3 MEDIUM |
Malicious sites can display a spoofed addressbar on a page when the existing location bar on the new page is scrolled out of view if an HTML editable page element is user selected. Note: This attack only affects Firefox for Android. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 53.

CVE-2017-7796 | 2 Microsoft, Mozilla | 2 Windows, Firefox | 2018-08-09 | 3.3 LOW | 4.7 MEDIUM |
On Windows systems, the logger run by the Windows updater deletes the file "update.log" before it runs in order to write a new log of that name. The path to this file is supplied at the command line to the updater and could be used in concert with another local exploit to delete a different file named "update.log" instead of the one intended. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 55.
CVE-2017-5463 | 2 Google, Mozilla | 2 Android, Firefox | 2018-08-09 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 5.3 MEDIUM |
Android intents can be used to launch Firefox for Android in reader mode with a user specified URL. This allows an attacker to spoof the contents of the addressbar as displayed to users. Note: This attack only affects Firefox for Android. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 53.
