CVE-2022-26488 | 3 Microsoft, Netapp, Python | 4 Windows, Active Iq Unified Manager, Ontap Select Deploy Administration Utility and 1 more | 2022-09-02 | 4.4 MEDIUM | 7.0 HIGH |
In Python before 3.10.3 on Windows, local users can gain privileges because the search path is inadequately secured. The installer may allow a local attacker to add user-writable directories to the system search path. To exploit, an administrator must have installed Python for all users and enabled PATH entries. A non-administrative user can trigger a repair that incorrectly adds user-writable paths into PATH, enabling search-path hijacking of other users and system services. This affects Python (CPython) through 3.7.12, 3.8.x through 3.8.12, 3.9.x through 3.9.10, and 3.10.x through 3.10.2.

CVE-2021-3449 | 12 Checkpoint, Debian, Fedoraproject and 9 more | 167 Multi-domain Management, Multi-domain Management Firmware, Quantum Security Gateway and 164 more | 2022-08-29 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
An OpenSSL TLS server may crash if sent a maliciously crafted renegotiation ClientHello message from a client. If a TLSv1.2 renegotiation ClientHello omits the signature_algorithms extension (where it was present in the initial ClientHello), but includes a signature_algorithms_cert extension then a NULL pointer dereference will result, leading to a crash and a denial of service attack. A server is only vulnerable if it has TLSv1.2 and renegotiation enabled (which is the default configuration). OpenSSL TLS clients are not impacted by this issue. All OpenSSL 1.1.1 versions are affected by this issue. Users of these versions should upgrade to OpenSSL 1.1.1k. OpenSSL 1.0.2 is not impacted by this issue. Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1k (Affected 1.1.1-1.1.1j).
CVE-2021-4044 | 3 Netapp, Nodejs, Openssl | 26 Baseboard Management Controller 500f, Baseboard Management Controller 500f Firmware, Baseboard Management Controller A250 and 23 more | 2022-08-29 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
Internally libssl in OpenSSL calls X509_verify_cert() on the client side to verify a certificate supplied by a server. That function may return a negative return value to indicate an internal error (for example out of memory). Such a negative return value is mishandled by OpenSSL and will cause an IO function (such as SSL_connect() or SSL_do_handshake()) to not indicate success and a subsequent call to SSL_get_error() to return the value SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY. This return value is only supposed to be returned by OpenSSL if the application has previously called SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback(). Since most applications do not do this the SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY return value from SSL_get_error() will be totally unexpected and applications may not behave correctly as a result. The exact behaviour will depend on the application but it could result in crashes, infinite loops or other similar incorrect responses. This issue is made more serious in combination with a separate bug in OpenSSL 3.0 that will cause X509_verify_cert() to indicate an internal error when processing a certificate chain. This will occur where a certificate does not include the Subject Alternative Name extension but where a Certificate Authority has enforced name constraints. This issue can occur even with valid chains. By combining the two issues an attacker could induce incorrect, application dependent behaviour. Fixed in OpenSSL 3.0.1 (Affected 3.0.0).
CVE-2019-1559 | 13 Canonical, Debian, F5 and 10 more | 90 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Big-ip Access Policy Manager and 87 more | 2022-08-19 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
If an application encounters a fatal protocol error and then calls SSL_shutdown() twice (once to send a close_notify, and once to receive one) then OpenSSL can respond differently to the calling application if a 0 byte record is received with invalid padding compared to if a 0 byte record is received with an invalid MAC. If the application then behaves differently based on that in a way that is detectable to the remote peer, then this amounts to a padding oracle that could be used to decrypt data. In order for this to be exploitable "non-stitched" ciphersuites must be in use. Stitched ciphersuites are optimised implementations of certain commonly used ciphersuites. Also the application must call SSL_shutdown() twice even if a protocol error has occurred (applications should not do this but some do anyway). Fixed in OpenSSL 1.0.2r (Affected 1.0.2-1.0.2q).

In the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6) through 2.29, proceed_next_node in posix/regexec.c has a heap-based buffer over-read via an attempted case-insensitive regular-expression match.
CVE-2022-0563 | 2 Kernel, Netapp | 2 Util-linux, Ontap Select Deploy Administration Utility | 2022-06-03 | 1.9 LOW | 5.5 MEDIUM |
A flaw was found in the util-linux chfn and chsh utilities when compiled with Readline support. The Readline library uses an "INPUTRC" environment variable to get a path to the library config file. When the library cannot parse the specified file, it prints an error message containing data from the file. This flaw allows an unprivileged user to read root-owned files, potentially leading to privilege escalation. This flaw affects util-linux versions prior to 2.37.4.
CVE-2020-13871 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 12 Debian Linux, Fedora, Cloud Backup and 9 more | 2022-05-13 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |

CVE-2020-25647 | 4 Fedoraproject, Gnu, Netapp and 1 more | 8 Fedora, Grub2, Ontap Select Deploy Administration Utility and 5 more | 2022-05-13 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.6 HIGH |
A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06. During USB device initialization, descriptors are read with very little bounds checking and assumes the USB device is providing sane values. If properly exploited, an attacker could trigger memory corruption leading to arbitrary code execution allowing a bypass of the Secure Boot mechanism. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-25632 | 4 Fedoraproject, Gnu, Netapp and 1 more | 8 Fedora, Grub2, Ontap Select Deploy Administration Utility and 5 more | 2022-05-13 | 7.2 HIGH | 8.2 HIGH |
A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06. The rmmod implementation allows the unloading of a module used as a dependency without checking if any other dependent module is still loaded leading to a use-after-free scenario. This could allow arbitrary code to be executed or a bypass of Secure Boot protections. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability. |
